Mainbrace Wine & Spirits Ltd. was established in 1988 as primarily an agent for premium Australian wines in the Nova Scotia market.
Over the years we expanded to the other Atlantic Canada provinces of Newfoundland, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
Our portfolio also grew to include wine producers from most major wine growing regions in the world, as well as a niche selection of fine spirits and beer.

We are happy to work with the four Atlantic Canadian Liquor Corporations, Nova Scotia Private Wine Shops, and many Licensee partners.

The name of our company is derived from nautical terminology and custom.
A mainbrace is the line with pulley used to hoist the mainsail of a wooden sailing ship traditional to Atlantic Canadian waters.
The term "splicing the mainbrace" refers to the Royal Navy custom of rewarding a ship's crew for a job particularly well done by serving everyone an extra tot of rum.
To do this, the Captain gave the order, "Splice the Mainbrace!"

Nathan started his career in the wine world in Ontario before relocating to Atlantic Canada to assume a leadership position with Mainbrace.
He has over 12 years of experience in wine sales and marketing, as well as a strong history in supplier relations. He is Level 3 WSET Certified, and has a passion for natural wines.
In his free time, Nathan enjoys getting outdoors to hike or swim, travelling, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Marc is a bilingual sommelier who was certified in 2005.
He has over 25 years of sales experience, and has been a part of Mainbrace’s sales team since 2003.
His enthusiasm and passion for wine are truly infectious. Marc is involved with sales in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

They are a full service agency offering some of the world’s finest wine, spirits and beers, and are known for their expertise in sales and marketing, as well as outstanding professionalism.
Founding Partner
Ann and her partner John started Mainbrace in 1988. She is fully retired now, but always available to lend an ear or some thoughtful advice.
Her vast experience in the wine world in Atlantic Canada is a great asset.

Wayne, a certified sommelier with a passion for wine, has been in the alcohol industry for 40+ years.
He has owned and operated restaurants & bars before moving into importing, sales & marketing.
Wayne’s most treasured position in the industry, however, is as a wine educator and mentor making the enjoyment of wine approachable and taking the pretentiousness out of wine enjoyment.
He is an avid fisherman, a gourmet cook and enjoys traveling the world. He lives with his life Partner; Lynn and cat on the shores of the Northumberland Strait.
